Cecilia Receives NASA Phase II-E Funding
Cecilia has earned additional recognition and support from NASA through the Phase II-Extension (“Phase II-E”) award—marking its third NASA contract in just two years under the SBIR Ignite program. This milestone positions Cecilia as a leader in sustainable circular materials, advancing its mission to redefine the lifecycle of plastic waste.
To secure Phase II-E funding, companies must obtain external third-party investment to qualify for a matching NASA award of up to $375,000. Demonstrating strong industry confidence, Cecilia successfully raised $400,000 in external investment, unlocking the full matching award from NASA. This dual funding accelerates the company’s progress toward scalable solutions in circular economy innovations.
SBIR Ignite is part of NASA’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program. This three-phase program is designed to be a stepping stone on the path to commercial success for high-growth, product-oriented entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small businesses. SBIR Ignite provides non-dilutive funding to early-stage, high-risk technologies that could be commercialized for use both on Earth and in space exploration.
