Cecilia Secures NASA SBIR Ignite Award to Tackle Plastic Waste
Cecilia has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from NASA, marking a pivotal step in the company’s journeyto develop an innovative solution to the global plastic waste crisis. As one of 12 companies selected from across the United States, Cecilia will use the funding for R&D to further advance its proprietary microwave technology.
The inaugural Phase I Ignite pilot is part of NASA’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program. This three-phase program is designed to be a stepping stone on the path to commercial success for high-growth, product-oriented entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small businesses. SBIR Ignite provides non-dilutive funding to early-stage, high-risk technologies that could be commercialized for use both on Earth and in space exploration.
